    Group Chief Accountant - Larnaca

    For our client, an International Group Wholesaler, we are looknig for a Group Chief Accountant. This person will be esponsible for overseeing and controlling all accounting operations across Cyprus and Greece, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The role supports the CFO by managing financial processes, leading the accounting team, and providing reliable financial information for decision-making.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee and manage all accounting operations across the Group, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, including invoices, payments, receipts, and journal entries.

    • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure proper implementation of accounting procedures across all entities.

    • Review and approve the creation of new customers and suppliers, ensuring accuracy of financial data and compliance with internal controls.

    • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control functions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely collections.

    • Support the CFO in managing supplier payments, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and alignment with cash flow priorities.

    • Oversee and review reconciliations of bank accounts, supplier accounts, customer accounts, and intercompany balances.

    • Oversee and verify cash and collections received from fleet delivery operators, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation.

    • Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

    • Prepare and review financial reports, including trial balances, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.

    • Support the CFO in preparing consolidated financial information and providing insights on financial performance, risks, and discrepancies.

    • Oversee payroll processes in coordination with the CFO, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with legal requirements.

    • Ensure compliance with VAT, tax regulations, and statutory requirements across Cyprus and Greece.

    • Monitor financial data, identify discrepancies or risks, and ensure timely resolution and escalation where required.

    • Oversee cost and expense control, ensuring accurate allocation of costs, stock valuation, and financial consistency across operations.

    • Ensure proper financial documentation, record-keeping, and audit readiness across all entities.

    • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders, including auditors and advisors, to ensure accurate and timely financial processes.

    • Lead, supervise, and develop the accounting and credit control team, ensuring performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

     

    Requirements:

    • Maintains high standards of accuracy and quality across all financial records, reporting, reconciliations, and accounting processes.

    • Demonstrates strong technical expertise in accounting, financial reporting, ERP systems, tax regulations, and internal control and payroll procedure.s

    • Plans and organises financial operations effectively, ensuring deadlines, reporting requirements, and departmental priorities are met.

    • Ensures efficient and controlled execution of accounting activities by implementing structured processes and maintaining strong internal controls.

    • Communicates clearly and professionally with management, internal departments, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial information and alignment.

    • Leads and develops the accounting and credit control team, ensuring accountability, performance, and consistent execution across all functions.

    • Demonstrates strong financial and commercial awareness by supporting cash flow management, supplier payments, and monitoring financial risks.

    • Demonstrates accountability for financial accuracy, reporting integrity, compliance, and overall accounting performance across the Group.

    • Shows initiative in identifying risks, improving financial processes, strengthening controls, and resolving complex accounting issues.

    • Maintains strict confidentiality and handles all financial, payroll, and company-sensitive information with integrity and professionalism.

    • Consistently follows and enforces company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements across all entities.

     

    Salary: 

    €32,500 - 35,000 annual gross - negotiable, depending on experience
